Biography:

John P. Kinney was raised in the South Texas city of Corpus Christi. He attended University of Texas, graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Biology. He attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas graduating in 1967 with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. After an Internal Medicine internship at Palo-Alto Stanford Hospital, Dr. Kinney spent 2 years in the National Institutes of Health extramural programs. He completed his residency in Dermatology at New York University in 1973 and remained on as instructor. He achieved the level of Assistant Professor before accepting a position with the Palm Beach Medical Group in 1974.

Dr. Kinney practiced with the Palm Beach Medical Group for over 29 years. In the October 1998 issue of Miami Metro Magazine his peers selected him as one of "The Best Doctors in South Florida". While with the PB Medical group he was a member of its board of directors for 4 years. He is excited now to be joining Palm Beach Dermatology in his new office at 45th just east of Congress.

In addition to an active Dermatological Practice focusing on the detection and treatment of skin cancer, Dr. Kinney has a significant interest in the phototherapy of psoriasis and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. He has acquired the very latest in equipment: the Dacevelin Narrow Band Phototherapy Light Unit as well as Narrow Band + PUVA hand and foot therapy units.

Dr. Kinney served as Chief of Dermatology Division of Both St. Mary's Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospitals for a combined total of 11 years. He served as President of the Palm Beach County Dermatology Society in 1978. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Richard David Kahn Melanoma Foundation since its founding in 1996. The RDK Melanoma Foundation has been awarded 5 Golden Triangle awards for excellence in community education. Dr. Kinney has also published six scientific papers. His most prized article, Ultraviolet Index: A Useful Tool, appears in the Dermatology online Journal June 2000 edition - http://dermatology.cdlib.org/DOJvol6num1/original/sunscreens/kinney.html. In addition, Dr. Kinney and his son Quintin were awarded a Patent titled "Method and Apparatus for Communicating Ultraviolet (UV) Radiation information" in November 2002.

Dr. Kinney lives in West Palm Beach with his wonderful wife Jan. They enjoy their 2 children and their growing families on weekends and holidays. Dr. Kinney pursues his hobby of personal fitness at the local parks.
